Thumbs up Fetzer & Sonoma-Cutrer:Director Maintenance & Engineering

Reports To: General Manager, Fetzer Vineyards

Scope:
Overall responsibility for Maintenance & Engineering functions for Fetzer Vineyards & Sonoma-Cutrer Vineyards. Oversees and directs all BFCA Wines operating departments in areas of research, planning, operating strategies and productivity improvement. Responsible for Maintenance, Engineering, Building & Property Maintenance for Fetzer. Provides Maintenance and Engineering oversight for Sonoma-Cutrer Vineyards and Paso Robles operations. Leads and manages all appropriations of capital, major maintenance projects, facility and process maintenance and cost saving initiatives for all CA winery locations.

Basic Function:
Responsible for originating, developing and analyzing cost reduction and productivity enhancement projects. Leads engineering efforts, responsible for development and execution of the capital and major maintenance budget. Provides technical advice and direction to CA winery operations. Directs and controls all managerial functions in areas of responsibility to achieve maximum levels of production, quality, profitability, new technology and morale consistent with company objectives, practices and policies.

Responsibilities:
Direct Bottling, Winery, and Facilities Maintenance Managers in areas of staffing, training, safety, OSHA & LOTO compliance, new equipment selection, equipment replacement justifications, work planning, and cost analysis. Direct a Maintenance Planner in areas of work order tracking, planning, and cost analysis. Direct a Capital Project Engineer and other managers responsible for capital projects in the entire capital process including report writing, project justifications, equipment evaluation/selection, project management, and project reporting. Work with Finance Department on tracking planned versus actual costs in both capital and expense areas. Act as a primary contact to B-F Corporate Engineering in areas of Capital and Maintenance project activities. Interface with other B-F Corporate groups including Safety, Environmental, and Risk Management as needed. Ensures that all engineering and maintenance activities and areas of responsibility adhere to required regulatory, safety, environmental and quality requirements and provides for the training and development of direct reports. Performs cost and productivity analysis and studies; assists production management in developing and establishing performance standards, standard operating procedures and assists in training and instruction in conjunction with new equipment installations or process changes. Stays abreast of changing regulatory, environmental, safety, OSHA and other requirements through training and education as they pertain to engineering and maintenance support. Provides for the general growth and development of staff, establishes performance standards and monitors and evaluates performance within these standards. Plans, directs and controls operating activities so as to provide an accident-free work place, and to ensure the safety of employees. Reviews accident reports and ensures appropriate corrective action as required.

Must Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering with 5-7 years applicable experience in manufacturing environment.
Previous experience supervising maintenance and/or engineering operations in an industrial environment.

Valid CA Driver’s license and required insurance. This position will require travel between locations within CA.


Preferred Experience:

Prior experience in beverage alcohol/wine business.


Skills:
Knowledge of PC applications including MS Office, internet, email and project control applications.

Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and the ability to prepare and present finished reports, project updates, etc.

Proven relationship building skills and that ability to work with all levels of internal and external contacts, employees, vendors, etc.

Demonstrates Profit Mentality: Conscious of and motivated toward bottom line results, using appropriate resources and controls.

Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external contacts.

Proven leadership, strategic thinking decision making abilities

Ability to climb stairs and ladders, climb over and under conveyors and generally move about in a manufacturing environment in the course of inspecting, observing and managing operations.
